Daniel Fernandez
1QBAN

Daniel Fernandez "1QBAN" is a photographer born and raised in Habana, Cuba. Moved to Houston, TX at the age of 15. This major change in his early life made him get lost in a limbo of bad influences. He found his light in photography. Always fascinated by architecture since he was little, Daniel uses lines in his compositions to direct the viewer eyes travel through his frames. He walks around following light documenting life through his lens, photographing everything he identifies with. Every image has a subconscious connection to who he is and how he thinks. A lot of nostalgia, solitude, and peacefulness between the chaos of his mind.

Thanks to his high school photography teacher Ms. Pontus; Daniel continued to play around with his camera and going to classes. At the end of his senior year he won a diploma, a medal, and the photos he presented got a score of (3/5) and (4/5) at the Texas VASE event in 2014. One of those photos was published in the “Best of College and High School 2015 Nikon Emerging Photographers”.
This made Daniel connect his life with his art. He didn’t think he was a good photographer, in fact he didn’t fully even knew how to use the camera. His photography in the beginning was Black and White, very dark, but there was always light in them. Everything was done with a subconscious approach. He was in a very dark moment of his life where he couldn’t find a purpose, a  meaning.
Photography was his light at the end of the tunnel.

Through his artistic career Daniel have explored many fields of photography; with the ultimate goal of mastering the craft to the fullest putting himself in new scenarios he never been before in order to push his skills and creativity.
Started exploring abandoned locations , there is a personal connection with them. To the average person these locations are dangerous, scary, a waste of time.. For Daniel exploring these places feels like freedom. His mind wonders on stories about why the place was left behind, what was it like when this place was alive. Fascinated by everything he comes across with. Most people judge these places by their outside and quickly discard all the beauty they have to offer.
Daniel emerged into the Houston creative community in late 2016. Along with his urban explorations, he started chasing rooftops and the thrill quickly became a lifestyle for him. Spent countless hours roaming Downtown Houston working on bettering his craft. Summer 2017 he started getting inquiries for portraits and thats when he decided to take a leap of faith on his path as a photographer.
Long term goal in his career is to be a Destination Wedding Photographer
